Pulling Muscles (from the shell) by squeeze with lyrics
Pulling Muscles? The clue is right there in the lyrics slides, genius. (Hint: it's the green one.)
Chris Difford wasn't entirely happy with his lyrics, but I think they're brilliant.
Brilliant upload, never heard this version before and clever how Squeeze change so many lyrics for the north American market.
A brilliant production from a band not normally associated with synthpop (which wasn't even a thing when this was recorded). What a journey Jools Holland has been on over the years! I love the combination of very early drum machine (Roland CR-80 at a guess, also used on "Heart Of Glass" and "In The Air Tonight") and rattling live drums, not a conventional pop, rock or disco beat by any means. Above all, it's a great song melodically, lyrically and structurally, packing in absolutely everything you could want into just shy of 3 minutes. One of the best pop songs of the entire 20th centrury to be honest.
Worse song eeevvvveeeerrrrr 🤮 love much of their GOOD tracks. This is like a half effort.
I saw him in a solo playing decades back in the world turned upside down pub before it was burned out he was brilliant !!!
Anyone that has lyrics appearing in time to read them deserves a special mention.
Squeeze had a very unique style, that's definitely very likable, due to its uniqueness.
One of my faves, but I have to admit for years I thought it was 'Pulling muscles for Michelle."
Apollo Glasgow ?, I was at that Concert aged 13, Oh Denise Doo Be Doo ?, Remember thinking..she's Delightful. Saw Blondie twice, maybe 3 times.
It's "mussels" not muscles!!!!
The money in the waistcoat not billfold.the lyrics are different.
William Tell and Maod Marian are really beach references aren't they, also nothing to do with each other, crap garbage song
Hate this shit have to listen to it at work, William Tell and Maid Marian? What the hell are they going on about?
Mussels.
If theres something that can take you back more than 40 years ...here it is
The Indians send signals from the rocks above the pass The cowboys take position in the bushes and the grass The squaw is with the corporal, she is tied against the tree She doesn't mind the language, it's the beating she don't need She lets loose all the horses when the corporal is asleep And he wakes to find the fire's dead and arrows in his hats And Davy Crockett rides around and says it's cool for cats It's cool for cats (cool for cats) The Sweeney's doing ninety 'cause they've got the word to go They get a gang of villains in a shed up at Heathrow They're counting out the fivers when the handcuffs lock again In and out of Wandsworth with the numbers on their names It's funny how their missus always look so bleeding same And meanwhile at the station there's a couple of likely lads Who swear like, "How's your father?" and they're very cool for cats They're cool for cats (cool for cats) To change the mood a little I've been posing down the pub On seeing my reflection, I'm looking slightly rough I fancy this, I fancy that, I wanna be so flash I give a little muscle and I spend a little cash But all I get is bitter and a nasty little rash And by the time I'm sober I've forgotten what I've had And everybody tells me that it's cool to be a cat Cool for cats (cool for cats) Shape up at the disco and I think I've got a pull I ask her lots of questions and she hangs on to the wall I kiss her for the first time and then I take her home I'm invited in for coffee and I give the dog a bone She likes to go to discos but she's never on her own I said I'll see you later and give her some old chat But it's not like that on the TV when it's cool for cats It's cool for cats (cool for cats) Me mum is down the bingo and the old man’s out of town They said that I could party so I wouldn’t mess around I spot a little diamond in the corner on her own The lads all try it on but end up with their fuses blown And then she eyes me bottle in a way that I condone So while the party’s raving I said give me some old chat And let her share me pint of milk because it’s cool for cats It’s cool for cats (cool for cats)
hello from Ukraine ruclips.net/video/luUeEuu9HZ8/видео.html
So busy living my life i never even thought about my past in retrospect until I got into recovery at age 45. Now at 64 I revel in these memories of my wonderful life.
Brilliant piano break!
What a hilarious song . Love it
wow How young were I?🤣🤣
Such a catchy ode to fingering
Thanks
I just love this song
In the key of G minor, authentic and uncompromising pop . Triffic.
The most exotic of " Middle Eastern Musical Escapades " courtesy of " Squeeze " !!! From Adrian 1965

Pulling Mussels For Michelle

remove comments if you want you fucking cunts i dnt care
Its funny to me now that i never heard this track during its heyday despite growing up in the 80s. My first time exposure to it came from the Activision Anthology back on the PS2, and now it has seemingly retroactively inserted itself into my 80s music nostalgia 😄 Strange how that works. Great tune 🤘
Wonderful cold open ,,,we love rock and roll We are Gen X
who came here while watching the Hey Babe! podcast?
I always thought it was pulling muscles for Michelle lol
High school house parties
For any non-Brits, here are a few translations for words you might be having trouble with: The Sweeney = Sweeney Todd = Flying Squad = A division of the police who are able to arrive at the scene of a crime quickly = a British TV show from the 70s /// Fivers = Five pound notes /// Wandsworth = Wandsworth Prison /// Missis = Wife (or sometimes it refers to girlfriend) /// Station = police station /// Likely lads = self-possessed young men who perhaps engage in crime/drinking/fornication etc./// 'Swear like how's your father" = behave in a foul mouthed manner /// Posing = trying to look cool in public /// Pub = public house = drinking establishment = traditional British or Irish bar /// fancy = like (usually referring to a prospective romantic partner) /// flash = ostentatious /// bitter = a type of warm beer /// Pull = possibility of success with a prospective romantic partner /// gave the dog a bone = engaged in sexual intercourse /// old chat = bs /// - I hope that all helps.
Only 34 years of age but growing up in the UK ,squeeze makes the playlist respect the classics ,their word play was awesome for the time .
This song is about getting some fine leg on a vacation...
Thank you Captain Obvious
@@thursoberwick1948 you're very welcome 🙏🏽
Possibly my 2nd favourite Squeeze track - brilliant!
From the album Argy Bargy full of good songs, I saw the band several times in the late 70s and early 80s, so good live with Jools Holland on piano :)
brilliant
I think it’s Pulling muscles from Michelle. Just kidding.
Good start init
I have vivid memories of listening to this while emulating Kirby 64 on my PC in 2005 during summer school.... good times
My Dad would always listen to this, good times!
I remember back in high school, I had a friend named Michelle who had a crush on a guy named Jason, & I'd sing this song but change the lyrics to 'Jason's muscle in Michelle'
My history teacher played this song a couple weeks ago on a Thursday and i found it a week later. Ive loved it ever since.
Squeeze were making “shrinkage” jokes years before Seinfeld
Old song heard them. In old navy
